Reproductive Transparency Now (RTN) was founded in August 2021 as a response to increasing harassment happening outside of abortion clinics in Chicago, IL. Most anti-abortion harassers have a common goal: to convince pregnant people seeking abortion care to go to a "crisis pregnancy center" nearby instead.
These crisis pregnancy centers, or "fake clinics", use empty promises, shame, guilt-tripping, medical disinformation, coercion, and worse to prevent as many people as possible from accessing abortion care—regardless of what the pregnant person wants or needs. Most people have never heard of these crisis pregnancy centers, which leaves them susceptible to their deception.
